Recently we have developed 'Oxo-Biodegradable coated paper packaging material' named 'ECO-V-PACK', which is moisture proof with barrier property (WVTR & OTR Property) and heat sealable to meet the latest standards of the industry. It is suitable for packaging of individual tea bag envelope & different food items being packed in normal poly coated paper.

When it gets exposed to open environment after completing its useful life (Shelf Life), it degrades & then biodegrades in same way as nature’s waste without leaving any toxic residue or any fragment of plastic.



Oxo-Biodegradable Technology

Oxo-biodegradable plastic technology is based on catalytic materials which promote degradation of polyolefins such as polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) (and co-polymers, thereof) via catalysis of the natural oxidative chain-cleavage leading to molecular-weight reduction and oxidation of the polymer. This causes a loss of mechanical properties, oxygen uptake, increased hydrophilicity, and reduced molecular-weight ultimately resulting in a material which is no longer a plastic and can be assimilated into the environment by micro-organisms commonly found on land and in the oceans.

Standards for Testing Oxo-Biodegradation Plastics

This is worldwide renowned technology and also passed several international standards tests which are accepted worldwide. UAE & SAUDI ARABIA are two examples of approving & accepting this technology by law.

Oxo-biodegradation is officially defined by CEN1 as "degradation resulting from oxidative and cell-mediated phenomena, either simultaneously or successively."

Stages of Oxo-Biodegradation Technology
  • Special catalytic material is added at the preparation of Special Coating which promotes degradation in presence of Oxygen & Sunlight after the useful life (shelf life).

  • The Coating of Oxo-Biodegradable material on Paper done with specific process.

  • Oxo-Biodegradable coated Paper converted into packaging (envelopes/pouches/sachets etc.)
    (This packaging provide barrier property [ WVTR & OTR ] to maintain Aroma & Freshness of the product)

  • The packaging product behaves like conventional plastic during its intended service life.

  • After its service life, the packaging may end up in the open environment.

  • The Special Coating then takes effect and the product begins to degrade in the presence of oxygen& sunlight / heat (UV).

  • First the product will degrade and then biodegrade in a continuous, irreversible and unstoppable process leaving nothing more than carbon dioxide, water and biomass. (Tested as per ASTM D 6954)

  • Finally packaging will 100% Oxo-Biodegrade without leaving any toxic residue or any fragment of plastic or micro plastic or heavy metals. (Tested as per ASTM D 6954)
